  July 1, 2026, Professor Xiaofeng Yang from the University of South Carolina, was invited to give a talk. The title is "Efficient Numerical Algorithms for Advanced Material Systems: Ferrofluids". For more information, see the poster.
  Xiaofeng Yang is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of South Carolina, USA. He received his B.S. degree in Mathematics from the University of Science and Technology of China in 1998 and his Ph.D. in Mathematics from Purdue University in 2007 under the supervision of Professor Jie Shen, a renowned expert in computational mathematics. From 2007 to 2009, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He joined the University of South Carolina in 2009, where he has served successively as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor. His research interests include computational and applied mathematics, mathematical modeling, numerical analysis, and scientific computing. He has published more than 200 research papers in leading journals of computational mathematics and scientific computing, including SIAM J. Sci. Comput., SIAM J. Numer. Anal., J. Comput. Phys., Comput. Methods Appl. Mech. Engrg. His publications have received more than 11,000 citations, and he has an H-index of 60. He has served as Principal Investigator on multiple projects funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF). He has also been recognized among the World's Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University for six consecutive years.
