October 17, 2025, Professor Gerard van der Geer from the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands, was invited to give a talk. The title is "Geometric constructions of modular forms". For more information, see the poster.
Gerard van der Geer is an emeritus professor at the University of Amsterdam. He works in algebraic geometry and arithmetic geometry with emphasis on moduli spaces and modular forms. He worked on Hilbert modular surfaces, curves over finite fields, cycle classes on moduli of abelian varieties and modular forms. He has published over 70 research papers in refereed journals.
