April 8, 2024, Professor Buyang Li from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, was invited to give a talk. The title is "A convergent algorithm with artificial tangential motion for approximating surface evolution under a prescribed velocity field". For more information, see the poster.
Buyang Li is a professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He obtained his Ph.D from City University of Hong Kong in 2012. From 2013 to 2016, he was engaged in teaching and researching at Nanjing University, and in 2015-2016, he worked as a Humboldt Scholar conducting research at the University of Tübingen in Germany. In 2022, he was awarded the Young Scholar Award by the Hong Kong Mathematical Society, and in 2023, he received the Research Fellowship from the Hong Kong Research Grants Council. His primary research interests lie in scientific computing and numerical analysis of partial differential equations, including numerical methods, analysis for geometric curvature flows, free boundary problems, numerical approximation of non-smooth solutions for nonlinear dispersive and wave equations, numerical solutions of incompressible Navier-Stokes equations, phase field equations, etc.
