November 9, 2023, Professor Zhouping Xin from The Chinese University of Hong Kong was invited to give a talk. The title is "On the Prandtl's Boundary Layer Theory for Steady Sink-Type Flows". For more information, see the poster.
Zhouping Xin works in the area of both theoretical analysis and numerical methods for partial differential equations from fluid dynamics. He got his Ph.D in mathematics in 1998 from the University of Michigan, and became a Courant Instructor at the Courant Institute of the New York University where he became a full professor in 1996. Currently, he is The William M. W. Mong Professor of Mathematics at the Institute of Mathematical Sciences at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Sha Tin, Hong Kong). Professor Xin had made great contributions to various areas such as nonlinear asymptotic stability of basic waves, multi-dimensional shock waves, smooth and non-smooth transonic flows, well-posedness of solutions to both compressible and incompressible Navier-Stokes equations, interface wave motions, point vortex methods and relaxation schemes etc., Prof Xin was a Sloan Research Fellow and ICM speaker.
